Why LVL framing timber is better

July 20, 2024

Here’s 1 big reason that our homes are stronger & straighter! We use Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) for our sub floor structure, wall frames and roof trusses.
This is a laminated timber like plywood which makes it very strong and ensures a much straighter wall finish than standard radiata H1.2 SG8.

Learn about the benefits of this timber below;

> LVL is made to achieve consistent strength, stiffness & stability.
> LVL is straight & less prone to distortion than sawn timber.
> LVL is highly consistent allowing efficient engineering design.
> LVL is resistant to bow, crook & twist, so less time is spent straightening walls.
> LVL H1.2 Framing is glue line treated plus surface coating with Azotek, which gives it a complete cross section treatment & can be cut, drilled and machined without any need for retreatment of exposed surfaces.
> LVL is available in longer lengths than sawn timber, reducing wastage and allowing larger spans using less timber.

> LVL is an acceptable solution as per NZS 3640 for treatment and NZS 3604 clause 2.3.9 for timber framing.
