“The Temporary Accommodation Services (TAS) Team at MBIE recently built two villages to provide temporary accommodation for flood affected residents of Westport.
South Peak Homes was one of the successful contractor tender respondents and built ten of the houses used at the two villages. Shannon and the South Peak Homes’ team got onboard from the start in understanding the process and vision of what TAS was working to achieve.

“Our journey with South Peak Homes started when we visited the show home just before Christmas in 2020. Then we immediately decided to proceed with South Peak – it was an easy decision for us! The whole process was well organized from the start. Shannon did a great job helping us to get a final plan that we were very happy with, and we enjoyed being able to explore a range of options along the way. Shannon and Michelle always maintained good communications with us and readily responded to our many questions. South Peak also provided valuable assistance with siting our house on our section and obtaining Building Consent.
We really enjoyed visiting the factory. It was good to meet Dan and the friendly building team and confirm details with them. Meeting members of our local community involved with building our home was very satisfying for us. It was particularly impressive to see how everyone stayed focused on delivering good homes, despite covid disruptions and a major local flood event. Despite these additional challenges, we were still able to move into our new home in time for Christmas 2021.

“South Peak Homes have done a wonderful job building me a home. From my experience I would totally recommend them. From the outset South Peak provided excellent service. Shannon and Michelle were absolutely fantastic, patiently going through every detail of the design on and off site, pre and post land purchase. Their experience in the building process and materials etc, sound advice, great ideas and great communication lines with trades contacts, including putting everything through Council helped make the process relatively easy.
Meeting Dan the builder gave me reassurance. He clearly cared about doing a beautiful job with attention to detail . The paint work was immaculate and when a tiny paint bubble opened up after transport it was immediately fixed. A friend who was a painter admired the excellent paint job done. All the electricals and plumbing worked perfectly and looked fabulous including a lovely fireplace carefully installed. Paul’s follow up post house positioning and moving in was great.
The recommendations and help with coordinating the outsourced tradesmen (who also did particularly good jobs) I was also very grateful for. Thank you South Peak and wider team for a wonderful job that I enjoy every day.”
“We are new owners of a South Peak home. The experience has been a fun journey from the first time when we walked into the show home in Westport and met Michelle and Shannon. We fell in love with the show home and decided on a smaller version.
From the time we signed the contract we have been guided through the whole process, photos as the construction progressed. We met the team who did our build, the site was so clean and so well organized they were so proud of their work. Shannon and Michelle came across to guide us through the finishes and their advice and expertise was very welcomed.
The end product is stunningly beautiful, the finishing is first class wardrobes and hall cupboard fitted out. and the care they showed to ensure everything was perfect is amazing. Shannon and Michelle came across do the final handover we will miss the regular contact but they said they are there if we need them, and there is a yearly follow up. “We’re loving our new South Peak home which we were lucky enough to move into in November 2021, just in time before we welcomed our baby a week later. After deciding to move back to the West Coast and looking for somewhere to call home we were very pleased with the service and product that South Peak has delivered us.
After signing our contract we were able to watch our house be constructed, moved to site and move in, all within the space of one year.
